
The Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Benue State branch, Dr Ushakuma Anenga led the State Officers Committee (SOC) on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO)/ immediate past President of the association, Prof. Innocent Ujah, mni at FUHSO temporary site in Otada, yesterday.
Dr Anenga appreciated Prof. Ujah for his immense contributions to NMA over the years, at both state and national levels. He also lauded him for the landmark achievements recorded at FUHSO within the short time he has been at the helm of affairs.

The Chairman said the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the veteran leader, pay homage and also seek his blessing, guidance, support and partnership with the new leadership of NMA in the state.
On his part, the Vice Chancellor of FUHSO, Prof. Innocent Ujah, mni was elevated on receiving the SOC and commended them for reaching out to him.
Prof Ujah restated his commitment to the course of NMA which he has been deeply involved within the last 42 years as he charged the new leaders with loyalty, honesty, hard work, integrity and diligence while carrying out their duties.
The VC highlighted the vision to make FUHSO an international model in medical education and also announced that the institution had been designated a Center for Excellence in infectious disease for the study of Ebola, Lassa fever, COVID-19 and other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
Prof Ujah concluded by breaking the news of his award of the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) slated to take place on 10th October 2022 at Abuja and extended an invitation to the Benue NMA community to the ceremony.
The meeting was attended by the principal officers of the University.
A similar visit was paid to the Provost of FUHSO, Prof. Oladapo Shittu.
